Lentils are a type of pulse similar to beans and chickpeas, the most commonly found lentils are large green lentils and split red lentils which we usually use as they are easy to find in the supermarket. Red lentils cook quickly so we use the dried variety, large green lentils take a lot longer to cook so we use tinned lentils for all of our recipes.
Lentils are high in protein and full of fibre, they are also incredibly low in fat so are the perfect alternative to meat for a healthy low fat diet, They are also high in potassium, B vitamins, iron and phosphorus too!.
