Thai Beef Salad with Peanuts & Chilli Dressing Recipe

 Thai steak salad, griddled steak served on a bed of lettuce and herbs with a Thai beef dressing made with chilli, ginger, garlic, fish sauce, honey and lime. Serve this tasty Asian steak salad with a sprinkle of chopped peanuts

Recipe Ingreds

Steak

  • black pepper (to taste)
  • salt (to taste)
  • 2 whole sirloin Steak

Salad

  • 3 sprig fresh basil
  • 6 sprig fresh coriander
  • 3 sprig fresh mint
  • 120 grams lettuce
  • 25 grams salted peanuts

Dressing

  • black pepper (to taste)
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 whole fresh chilli
  • 2 cm fresh ginger
  • 1 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 whole lime
  • salt (to taste)
  • 1 tbsp sunflower oil

Step 1

  • wash and finely chop the chilli
  • peel and crush the garlic using the garlic crusher or chop finely
  • peel and grate the ginger
  • place the garlic, ginger and chilli in a bowl

Step 2

  • squeeze the lime(s)
  • add to the bowl
  • add the oil, fish sauce, and honey
  • to the bowl
  • mix the ingredients
  • season with salt and pepper

Step 3

  • heat the griddle pan
  • season the steak with salt and pepper
  • cook the steak for a minute or 2

Step 4

  • while the steak is cooking

Step 5

  • wash and chop the lettuce
  • add to the bowl
  • wash and remove the stalks from the coriander
  • wash and remove the stalks from the mint

Step 6

  • turn the steak over and cook for a minute or 2

Step 7

  • wash and remove the stalks from the basil
  • add the herbs to the lettuce
  • set a side

Step 8

  • rest the steak for 5 mins

Step 9

  • chop the peanuts
  • pour half the dressing over the salad
  • toss to mix
  • place the salad in a serving bowl

Step 10

  • cut the steak into 2cm slices
  • place on top of the salad
  • add the chopped peanuts

  • 1 grater
  • 1 griddle pan
  • 1 large bowl
  • 3 large knife
  • 1 lemon squeezer
  • 1 small bowl

How to make Thai steak salad

Make the Thai steak dressing, by mixing together the crushed garlic, grated fresh ginger, chopped chilli, oil, lime juice, honey and fish sauce. Wash the salad leaves and mix with the fresh herbs. Griddle the steak for about 2 minutes each side and rest for 5 minutes, slice the steak and mix with the salad, add the dressing and sprinkle with chopped peanuts
