About our easy camembert pasta recipe

This is one of our favourite camembert dishes, the combination of the tomatoes and camembert with the bacon and pasta makes the most delicious quick-cook dinner. This dish has a tartness from the tomatoes, and a crispy saltiness from the bacon, both of these cut through the rich gooey cheese. Perfect for all the family and ideal for a weeknight dinner as it is so easy to make

How to make tomato and bacon pasta with camembert

Begin by cooking the penne until al dente, then prepare garlic bread in the oven. In a separate pan, crisp bacon and infuse it with garlic, chili flakes, and tomatoes until if form a rich, jam-like consistency. Add the camembert, and the grated emmental, and a dash of cream.  When the pasta is cooked, toss the penne in the sauce, ensuring it's well-coated and seasoned. Finish by dividing it between the serving bowls, then garnishing with torn basil leaves and serving alongside warm bread, grated parmesan, and a final sprinkle of fresh basil.

Top tips

  • If you are swapping for different cheeses Choose strongly flavoured ones to balance the other ingredients
  • Sometimes tinned tomatoes can be a little tart if they are, add a tiny bit of sugar to the sauce
  • If the sauce is too thick loosen with a little pasta water

When to make bacon, tomato and cheesy pasta

This dish is perfect any time of year, a tasty but simple after-work dinner for those lazy days when you are just too tired to cook. It is ideal for adults and children. It is a great dish for cheese lovers, and it is a delicious comfort food. It has a tartness from the tomatoes, and a crispy saltiness from the bacon, both of these cut through the rich creaminess of the cheese

If you are cooking it for a special occasion, pick a different pasta possibly one of the oversize shells or penne, and for that extra special touch serve with a selection of delicious continental bread.

Serve this delicious cheesy pasta with grated parmesan and garlic bread in the winter and a light green salad in the summer, with a balsamic dressing or a cider vinegar-based dressing.

Feel free to add extra items to the dish, such as diced cooked chicken or alternate the cheese with whatever cheese you have in the fridge, the dish is better suited to strongly flavoured cheeses and can be the ideal dish to use up leftover cheese board cheeses.

What makes our camembert pasta sauce the best?

The combination of two kinds of cheese, bacon and tomato makes this absolutely delicious. The star of this meal is the mixture of the sharpness of the tomatoes which cut through the richness of the Emmenthal and camembert sauce. We are great fans of different pastas such as spinach and whole-wheat but this recipe needs a traditional one
