Baked Camembert with Maple Syrup, garlic and Rosemary Recipe

A delicious baked Camembert starter, whole camembert peppered with slivers of garlic and sprigs of rosemary and topped with sweet maple syrup, This warm gooey camembert is served with homemade crunchy pita crisps

Recipe Ingreds

Camembert

  • black pepper (to taste)
  • 250 grams camembert cheese
  • 3 sprig fresh rosemary
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • salt (to taste)

Bread

  • 2 single pitta bread

Recipe with pictures Steps

Step 1

  • set the oven to 200C 400F or gas mark 6
  • remove the camembert from the box
  • peel the garlic
  • cut the garlic into slivers

Step 2

  • wrap the cheese in foil leave the top open
  • make cuts in the top of the cheese, push the garlic sliver into the cuts
  • cut the rosemary sprigs into small sections
  • push the rosemary into the cuts

Step 3

  • place back into the box with the cuts facing upwards
  • drizzle with maple syrup
  • season with salt and pepper
  • place on the baking tray

Step 4

  • cut the pitta bread in half lengthwise
  • then cut into triangles
  • place on the baking tray with the cheese

Step 5

  • place in the oven
  • cook for 15 mins to 20 mins

Step 6

  • check after 10 minutes and if pitta triangles are cooked remove the pitta and return the cheese to the oven

Step 7

  • when the camembert is golden brown and risen and wobbly in the middle, remove from the oven
  • serve the cheese whole with the pitta crisp on the side
  • serve immediately

How to make baked Camembert with maple syrup 

This delicious camembert starter is so easy to make,  the warm gooey cheese flavoured with rosemary, garlic and maple syrup tastes amazing. especially served with the crispy pita chips.  To make this recipe peel the garlic and cut it into slivers, wrap the cheese in foil living the top open. Make small slits on the top and place the garlic and rosemary into the slits. Place the cheese back in the box and pour the maple syrup over the top. Cut the pitta bread into triangles and place them on a baking tray with the camembert, Place the baking tray in the oven and bake till golden brown.
